Homesharing: Katherine, Irene and Jim

In her early 30s, Katharine is a full-time student working on her doctorate degree. She needed a place to live but couldn’t afford to pay much rent.

Irene, age 87, and Jim, age 95, needed someone to live in their home. They also needed lawn and garden care, snow removal, and some light housekeeping. Irene and Jim were willing to accept reduced rent for those services.

Northwest Side Housing Center’s HomeSharing program brought Katherine, Irene and Jim together and they decided it was a match. They are grateful to the HomeSharing program for bringing them together.
